![]() ACP - The setting in a book is sometimes just as important of a character, as the characters themselves. If you were a setting, what would look like? El Paso, Texas, eighteen ninety eight, around fifteen to four in the afternoon. The large thermometer hanging just outside the door of Wong's Laundry read, one hundred and four degrees. Under the steps leading down to the street, an old, tan colored, slick haired dog lay panting in what little shade there was to be found. The poor old fella's eyes were closed and his tongue hung limp over the side of his jaw. Nearby, the train sat like a huge dragon, waiting to swallow up anyone who came too near. The engine pulsated a slow rumble, bellowing heat and black smoke into the already scorching air. ![]() Visit Jared McVay's website.
