I asked Judith Kirscht the following:
How does an author stay with a character when: 1. Writing over a long period of time? 2. Writing multiple stories? 3. Writing a story (or stories) with multiple characters?
Rereading what I've written, getting back into the story is the best way of getting started again. If I'm using multiple points of view I read only the other sections from that character's POV. I should also add that if I am using multiple POVs, I initially write each character's story to the point where I really feel I'm walking in their shoes. Much of that won't end up in the book, but it helps to re-enter their head later.
The Author in all of us
There is a story inside. One that needs out and to be read by others. It's there and now it's time for it to flow from author to the reader. Join us as we celebrate Indie authors.
